8th Graders: The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office along with the Sheriff’s Youth Project of Le Sueur County, Honorable Judge Mark Vandelist, Le Sueur County Victim Witness and Minnesotans for Safe Driving are holding a Distracted Driving Slogan/Art Contest again this year. We would like to invite your 8th grade students the opportunity to participate. Distracted Driving is a major concern upon our local roadways. This contest will allow 8th grade students the opportunity to raise awareness concerning Distracted Driving. This year we are hoping for the help from the 8th grade art teachers to help spread the word and encourage the kids to take part in this contest. There will be a first, second and third place winner from each participating school. Each winner will be invited to an Awards Ceremony/Pizza Party on April 27th at 11:00 a.m. The completed artwork/slogans must be mailed back to Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office by March 31st. There will be a preaddressed envelope for those to be mailed in.
Fundraiser Opportunity: Monday, February 26th we will be starting a fundraiser, which will be for Steven Odenthal, a 7th grader at Holy Redeemer School in Montgomery, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. We will be running two different fundraisers, K-4 and 5-8.
The 5-8 classrooms/advisories will choose two prizes for their classroom and will have two running $ totals on their board. Students can bring in money and donate towards the prize they would like for their room. On March 9th, the classroom prize with the highest $ amount will be awarded to the class.
K-4 will be doing a hat day on March 9th. All students who would like to wear a hat that day should donate at least $1. 5th - 8th Grade students are welcome to participate in the hat day as well.
