Social Skills

One of the classes that I teach here at school is social skills to many of my students who sometimes need some refreshment in social skills application for school and outside of school. Social Skills is defined as: any skill facilitating interaction and communication with others. Social rules and relations are created, communicated, and changed in verbal and nonverbal ways. The process of learning these skills is called socialization. These social skills are lifelong learning experiences and reinforcement for young people to become well socialized citizens in school and the world outside of school. Some the skills that are taught are: Resolving Conflicts Calmly, Negotiating, Identifying Stress, Dealing with teasing, avoiding fights, creating a positive attitude, feeling good about yourself, group pressure and releasing anger safely. These are just a few of the lessons that we explore in my social skills class. There are many more that are covered throughout the school year.
